Preserves your exact pixels
Converting format never resizes, crops, stretches, or upscales your image. The output dimensions exactly match the correctly oriented source dimensions.

How it works
Real format encoding rather than surface-level extension changes.
Converting format never resizes, crops, stretches, or upscales your image. The output dimensions exactly match the correctly oriented source dimensions.
PNG and WebP preserve alpha transparency. JPEG has no transparency support, so transparent areas are cleanly flattened onto your chosen background colour.
Renaming a file extension like .png to .jpg does not convert its internal pixel encoding and portals often reject it. FileMizo properly re-encodes the image in your browser.

FAQ
Details about format differences, compression, transparency, and privacy.
The tool accepts still JPG, PNG, and WebP files that your browser can decode. You can convert to JPEG (.jpg), PNG (.png), or WebP (.webp). HEIC, SVG, GIF, APNG, and animated WebP are not supported.
Every format uses a distinct file header and compression algorithm (such as DEFLATE for PNG, DCT for JPEG). Renaming 'photo.png' to 'photo.jpg' only changes the label on the outside—the underlying data is still PNG. Upload portals that inspect the file header will reject it as invalid or corrupted. This tool decodes and re-encodes the actual pixel data.
JPEG uses lossy compression designed for photographs, while PNG uses lossless compression designed to preserve every pixel perfectly. Converting a photographic JPEG into a lossless PNG often results in a significantly larger file size because PNG stores every detail without lossy shortcuts.
No. Lossy compression in a JPEG permanently discards subtle colour data when it was created. Converting to PNG prevents further loss upon saving, but it cannot reconstruct or sharpen details that were already lost.
This is a re-export, not a different-format conversion. The image is decoded and re-encoded using your selected quality and background settings. It does not guarantee a smaller file.
No. The conversion happens entirely inside your browser tab using Web Workers and Canvas APIs. No image data is ever sent to FileMizo or any third-party server.
